Privacy Policy
In short: Kitwala collects only what we need to connect riders with accessory shops: your name, contact number, area and vehicle. Shops’ products, contact details and locations are shown to riders. A rider’s number is shared with a shop only when the rider chooses that shop or contacts it. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t show you ads.
1. Who we are
Kitwala (“Kitwala”, “we”, “us”) is a website at www.kitwala.co.in that helps riders find road-legal accessories for their vehicle and get quotes from partner shops in India. It is run by K V Anish, trading as Kitwala.
This policy explains how we handle personal data under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
2. What we collect
From riders
- Account details: your name and email address, from Google sign-in or an email sign-in link.
- Contact details: your WhatsApp or mobile number and your area or city.
- Your enquiries: when you use “Ask in Kitwala”, your vehicle, the product you asked about and any notes. Requests sent with an earlier version of Kitwala may include a picture of your vehicle.
From partner shops
- Shop name, owner name, mobile number, area, shop address, map location (if you add one), shop type, the vehicles you serve, and your chosen plan.
- Products you list: names, sizes, prices, the vehicles they fit and product photos.
- Quotes and messages you send to riders.
From sign-up forms
If you register interest through a form on our website (for example “Register my shop” or a rider waitlist), we collect the details you type in the form.
Collected automatically
Like any website, our hosting and service providers receive technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you open, to deliver and secure the site. Your sign-in session is stored in your browser so you stay signed in. A kit you are building may be saved temporarily in your browser while you sign in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
3. Why we use it
- To create and manage your account.
- To send your accessory request to partner shops and show you their quotes.
- To let partner shops list products and reply to riders.
- To contact you about your request, your partner account or your plan, by phone, WhatsApp or email.
- To keep Kitwala safe, block illegal listings and fix problems.
- To meet legal requirements.
We use your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you sign up, tick the consent box or send a request. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 7).
4. Who we share it with
- Partner shops: when you use “Ask in Kitwala”, that shop sees your name, area, vehicle, the product and any notes. Your phone number is shown to a shop only after you choose that shop. If you WhatsApp or call a shop yourself, the shop sees your number through WhatsApp or your phone. Partner shops may use your details only to respond to you.
- Riders: partner shop names, products, photos, prices and quotes are shown to riders. A listed shop’s phone number, address and map location are shown to signed-in riders so they can contact and visit the shop.
- Service providers who run parts of Kitwala for us:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and photo storage
- Netlify: website hosting and sign-up form submissions
- Google: “Continue with Google” sign-in, Google Fonts for text styles, and Google Maps for shop maps and directions
- OpenStreetMap and unpkg: the map partners use to pin their shop
- jsDelivr: delivers part of the website’s code
- Authorities: when required by law or to protect people’s safety.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. How long we keep it
- Account and profile data: while your account is active, and up to 90 days after you ask us to delete it.
- Enquiries and quotes: until you delete them, or 12 months after they are closed, whichever comes first.
- Partner products and photos: until the partner deletes them or the partner account is closed.
- Sign-up form entries: up to 12 months, unless you become a rider or partner.
We may keep some records longer where the law requires it, for example tax and invoice records for paid plans.
6. How we protect it
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access rules in our database limit who can see what: riders see only their own enquiries, a rider’s phone number is visible only to the rider, the shop they chose and Kitwala admins, and shops can change only their own shop and products. No system is completely secure, so please keep your Google or email account safe.
7. Your rights
You can:
- Access a summary of your personal data and who we shared it with.
- Correct or update it. Riders and partners can edit most details in their dashboard.
- Delete it. Riders can delete requests in the dashboard. To delete your whole account, contact us.
- Withdraw consent. We will then stop using your data, though this does not affect what we did before.
- Raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer (below), and if you are not satisfied, with the Data Protection Board of India.
- Nominate someone to use these rights for you in case of death or incapacity.
8. Children
Kitwala is meant for people aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, please use Kitwala only with a parent or guardian’s consent. If we learn we have a child’s data without that consent, we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Kitwala grows. We will change the date at the top, and tell signed-in users about important changes.
